Officina dellAmbiente S.p.A, located in the municipality of Lomello (PV) in Italy, performs the treatment and recovery process of special hazardous and non-hazardous wastes, mainly bottom ashes derived from municipal incineration plants.
Thousands of tonnes of bottom ashes from incineration, instead of being disposed in landfills, are treated in a controlled manner through a treatment/recovery cycle which generates a secondary raw material, named Matrix, used as substitute of primary raw materials for cement production and other building products.
Today, Matrix has become a family representing a wide range of products with different characteristics, particle sizes and applications ranging over almost all building sectors.
At the moment, representatives of the Matrix Family are:
AGMatrix, a gravel-like aggregate of industrial origin with a particle size between 2 and 10 mm. The product has been EC-labelled as aggregate for concrete according to the UNI EN 12620 specifications in 2008;
Sand Matrix, a group of sands of industrial origin which can be produced with particle sizes of 0-2 mm, 0-4 mm and 2-4 mm. These sands hold the EC labels according to the specifications of UNI EN 12620/13139/13242/13043
